Racism in general:

Racism is when people mean, that other races are inferior than their own race. They think, that their own race has an higher status, than other races, which are in the minority. People which are racists form an opinion about other races and they use it as justification to discriminate them. In the fiftees and sixtees biologists gave an evidence in the order of the UNESCO, that all races have the same status and no race is inferior. They found out, that all people are as intelligent as the others. Samuel P. Huntington formulated thesis about the "fight of the cultures" which finds enthusiasm between the political leaders of Western states. In his opinion, crises in different cultures with different religions cannot be avoid.

Racism against black people:

Racism emerged out of the rise in the slave trade in the eighteenth century. Black people could be bought and sold property and treated - or maltreated- as their owners wished, because they were regarded as something less than human. The basis of this idea already existed in European culture in general and Catholicism in particular, which held those who were not beleivers in the "one true church" were inferior beings. Around this in the era of slavery a whole system of beliefs was erected which attempted to prove that balcks were less intelligent than whites, with smaller brains a capacity only for manual labour.

Example for racism:

Brooklyn At first, a small presentation about Brooklyn: Brooklyn is one of the five district parts of New York City. Brooklyn is an important industrial centre with a big harbour, which has the most population (2,3 Million) of district parts of New York City. Brooklyn is a multiracial district, where poverty and wealth riches are often side by side. Through the opening of the Brooklyn-Bridge in the year 1883, people could reach Brooklyn via Manhattan. In the eighty and ninety years of 20th century Brooklyn were a scene of violent racial disturbances.

Brooklyn refer to the film "Smoke":

Racism against black and white people in Brooklyn (Film Smoke”). Brooklyn is a multiracial part of New York. Black and White doesn’t like each other. In the film Rashid (a black boy) and Paul Benjamin (a white writer) become more and more friends, but just because Rashid saved Paul’s live. Normally all the Blacks think, that the Whites think, that they are better people with an higher status. The Blacks mean, that the Whites discriminate them and they use them as slaves. For example: The part when Rashid’s aunt searched for him, and Paul told her, that Rashid has spend two nights in his flat, she asked: “ What do you want with a black boy, are you perverse?” She couldn’t believe, that Paul offered Rashid his flat just for sleeping.
