Act One

The living-room of a house in a seaside town. A door leading to the hall down left. Back door and a small window uf left. Kitchen hatch, centre back. Kitchen door up right. Table and chair, centre. PETEY enters from the door on the left with a paper and sits at the table. He begins to read. MEG's voice comes through the kitchen hatch.

MEG: Is that you, Petey? Petey, is that you? Petey?

PETEY: What?

MEG: Is that you?

PETEY: Yes, it's me.

MEG: What? (Her face appears at he hatch.) Are you back?

PETEY: Yes.

MEG: I've got your cornflakes ready. (She disappears and reappears.) Here's your cornflakes.

Akt Eins

Das Wohnzimmer eines Hauses in einer Stadt, die sich am Meer befindet. Eine Tür führt zur Eingangshalle unten links. Hintertür und ein kleines Fenster oben links. Küchenlucke hinten in der mitte. Küchentür oben rechts. Tisch und Stühle stehen im Zentrum. PETEY tritt mit einem Blatt ein und setzt sich an den Tisch. Er beginnt zu lesen. MEG's stimme kommt durch die Küchenluke.

MEG: Bist du's, Petey? Petey, bist du's? Petey?

PETEY: Was?

MEG: Bist du's?

Petey: Ja, ich bin's.

MEG: Was? (Ihr Gesicht erscheint in der Küchenluke) Bist du zurück?

PETEY: Ja.
