Jesus Christ

Jesus (8–2 BC/BCE to 29–36 AD/CE), also known as Jesus of Nazareth, is the central figure of Christianity. He is commonly referred to as Jesus Christ, where «Christ» is a title derived from the Greek «christos», meaning the «Anointed One» (dt. «Der Gesalbte», «anonted» = «gesalbt», vgl. Salbe <> Heilung und auch engl. «salvation» <> «gesalbt»), which corresponds to the Hebrew-derived «Messiah» (ethymologisch schon näher an «Mein (ge-)Salbter», odr?). The name «Jesus» is an Anglicization of the Greek «Iesous» (vgl. auch INRI <> «Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum» = «Jesus von Nazaret, König der Juden»), itself a transliteration of the Hebrew «Jeshua», meaning «YHWH is salvation» (hier haben wir das «salvation» wieder Interessant auch der Zusammenhang zum Begriff YHWH).
